DVDs

Now I'm old enough to remember VSH tapes and the thing about them was they didn't last very long, the got tangled in the video player, after about 2 viewings the picture degraded and the tape ended up in the bin (not before wrapping itself around the head of your video player first of course) anyway in late 80s along came DVDs which we were promised would offer superior picture quality and were, we were told, virtually indestructable! Obviously the manufacturers were a childless race because in my house DVDs last about 2 days after which they are scratched, dirty, broken, smudged and useless, they are in fact many many many things but indestructable they are not now i ask you - What's that all about?
